The Hindu Year, which is an annual leap year whose date changes depending on the leap year, is referred to as the Hindu Year.
Origin
It's unclear which year the new year was born from. Many believe that it began in ancient China. Chinese mythology states that the mythological creature which had the head and body of of an ox , but the body was the lion, hid in the sea and awoke at New Year's Eve. This calendar is very similar with our modern calendar.
Many Asian cultures today observe the New Year on the lunar calendar. China, Korea and other countries still use this traditional calendar. The year starts after the first New Moon, which is the solstice of winter.
